Can I claim my American spouse's income on my taxes?

I live in Canada, and she lives in America. We're not seen as a married couple in America, but we are in Canada. When I filed my taxes, they said I had to put her income on my taxes which made my return significantly larger. I now received a letter from the GST part of my income taxes stating that I need to send in a letter with her name and social security number stating how much she made in 2009. We were not married in 2009, or even living together in 2009. I'm super scared they're going to take all my money away. Does anyone have any help or suggestions??
